Minutes of the General Meeting
Held at the Clubhouse, Fairbairn Park
On Wednesday 14 April 2004
Present: – Tom Nipperess, Graeme Priestley, Mark McMillan, Peter Thomas, Chris Reynolds and 19 members.
Apologies: – Garry Compton.
Opening: – Meeting opened at 7.40pm.
Minutes: – Minutes of the 10 March 2004 General Meeting were not available.
Business arising from Minutes: – Held over until General Business.
Correspondence:
AKA – February 2004 AKA Financials, State of Origin Meeting 1-2 May Coffs Harbour, 2004 NSW Dirt Championship, Permit Fees, moving from provisional C to C grade licence and 2004 AKA Manual.
Other – Sapphire Coast Kart Club, Dave Greenshields re 2004 AKA Manual and Gary Pluis re Officials Seminar.
Treasurers Report: Sally Hazzard submitted her report (copy attached) which showed that the financial position of the club at 14 April 2004 was $30,709.61 with outstanding deposits of $4,725.20 and outstanding receipts of $4,844.12, leaving an actual cash balance of $30,590.69. Accepted by Hamish Murray and seconded by Stuart Nowak.
Canteen Report: Sally Hazzard reported that there had been one race meeting on 3 and 4 April 2004 sponsored by the Canberra Trophy Centre where the canteen receipts were $1,667.60.
Competition Report: Nil
Property Report: Nil
Publicity Report: Nil
Delegates Report: Tom Nipperess spoke to Lee Donnelly of the bike club re the dust problem and they would cancel practice on our race days and there would be no dumping of soil on Friday, Saturday and Mondays.
Member Secretary Report: Mark McMillan noted licence application forms are unavailable.
Safety Officer Report: Chris Reynolds reported that the bottom catch trap must be topped up; the weeds at the side of the track are causing a break up of the track in places and an inspection is due soon; the ripple strip on the inside corner of the in-grid needs to be replaced; and new flags are needed.
General Business:
Members noted:
Rally of Canberra proposal to ACT Public Works for sealing of dirt road between Fairbairn Road and the track (cost $30,000) and in the mean time putting scalpings on the road surface;
Hamish Murray seeking Members to go to Coffs Harbour and notice to go on web site;
Les Woods has resigned as Property Manager and volunteers are required for the position;
a proposal that in a racing class the lights flag for the heavies and vice versa;
Chris Cashmore advised that traffic lights were available if the Club wished to use them. Chris to coordinate with Garry Pluis.
Members agreed to:
request from Dominic Tegal (Rally of Canberra) to use the track for parking for the Rally at the usual rent of $1100 - $1200 per day. Rally of Canberra would clean and repair any damage to track. Proposed by Ian Watt and seconded Clive Lloyd;
Pro Kart hiring the track on 15 – 16 May on the basis that the $1,200 owing and the $1,200 for the new hire were paid 7 days in advance. Pro Kart responsible for running their meeting totally and have provided copies of their insurance cover. Pro Kart and the Club would intermingle practice on the Saturday;
King/Queen of Karting (29-30 May), ACT Titles (28 – 29 August) and Canberra Cup (23 – 24 October) being promoted outside Canberra as two day combined meetings in Kart Oz and our Website;
There being no further business, the meeting closed at 8.50 pm.
